I’m not a big fan of French wines. But my wife was grilling out steaks, so thought this might be a good pairing. Unlike many “Old World” Cabernets, this wine is bold; but after letting it breathe for about 30 minutes, it opened up and let some of the more nuanced notes come through. Aroma of spiced cherry and tobacco; full-bodied but not acidic, balanced with medium tannins. Oaky finish was a bit shorter than I liked, but no regrets on this selection. It was a slam dunk with grilled beef, think this would go well with grilled chicken or pork as well.
